Blue Dog Kitchen
What our friends and staff say:
Great place for some take-out and delivery. You can enjoy your meal in the peace of your own home after you see a show with Broadwaypass.
I visit them on my way to work. Great fresh and warm sandwiches that you can enjoy on your way to the office.
Their signature breakfasts are a great way to start your day, either before work or a workout. Nutritional and tasty.
Situated at the Carnegie Hall, at the heart of Manhattan and the Theatre district, the Blue Dog Kitchen provides healthy and nutritious classic American food to natives, and theatre-goers alike. It is right next to the 50th Street subway station and it’s very close to the Gershwin, August Wilson, Broadway Theatre, Ambassador, Eugene O’Neil, and Walter Kerr. So, if you’re headed to see “Wicked”, “West Side Story”, “The Book of Mormon”, “Chicago”, and “Mean Girls”, and you’re in a hurry, this is your ideal place to grab something to eat on the run.
The Blue Dog is a rather large chain with four locations around NYC. The most we and our clients visit most commonly is on 308 West 50th Street at the Carnegie Hall. It offers take out and delivery which makes it very comfortable when you’re in a hurry to go or to come back from a Broadway show.
Eggs are the highlight in Blue Dog’s menu. We in BroadwayPass know how good is to have them in your breakfast, how nutritious, healthy, and tasty they are. In the Signature Breakfast, you have them mixed with a lot of ingredients like spinach, Canadian bacon, avocado, Jalapenos, and can be served on English muffins, and tortilla. The Egg-citing sandwiches are very exciting. Again, they are mixed with diverse stuff – turkey breast, salmon filet, avocado, and aioli. They also offer Grab and Go breakfast that is amazing if you want to add some healthy sweets for some more energy. All the ingredients are fresh – the bread is freshly baked, the eggs are always hot, and that just adds a lot to the “tasty” factor.
Blue Dog Kitchen has a very rich list for lunch as well. They offer a lot of salads with cool names like Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Iron Harvest, and King Tut. They feature chicken, fish, as well as vegetarian options. The soups are another great option if you go for a take out. They are an amazing option if you want to have something warm for lunch at work in the colder months. You can choose from turkey, chicken, and a vegan option.
They have great offers in their fast healthy food list, with great cold and grilled sandwiches, quesadillas, and the “notorious” All-natural burgers. You can pick the bread that you get with your sandwich, and guac and sour cream with the quesadillas. Like everything else at the Blue Dog – they are fresh, tasty and perfectly fit the lifestyle of the traditional Newyorker or the theatre-goer.
A fun fact about the Blue dog is that there’s an actual dog behind the name – Oliver the bull dog. The first restaurant was opened in Chelsea in 2006 with the idea to offer people old family recipes with a modern, healthy twist. There are no fried dishes on the menu nor processed food. All of the ingredients are organic or locally sourced. All this makes the Blue Dog a great place if you’re into the “New Year – New Me” and you’ve promised yourself healthier eating.
So, if you want to get into better shape go get a bite at the Blued Dog and have a run around Theatre District with BroadwayPass.
