Vago Restaurant

“Vago” means “Beauty”

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. That is why we have decided to give you, the friends of BroadwayPass, some inside info on some of the best romantic place that we enjoy visiting with our significant others.

What do our friends and staff say:

Best Italian around! Perfect for Valentine’s day, and not only!

Perfect place to share a bottle of “Taylor Fladgate” with a loved one.

Great food (I always get some Squid Ink Linguine), great wine, great atmosphere. And it’s a walking distance from all the theatres.

The name of the restaurant is derived from the Latin word for Beauty. And the place stands up for the name. It is gorgeous!

Vago is situated at about 20 minutes walking distance from Theatre District if you’re up for the classic stories – “The Phantom of the Opera”, “Moulin Rouge!”, “Hadestown”, or something more chill like “Mean Girls” or “Dear Evan Hasen”, and at the same distance from Gramercy Theatre where you can see “Glass Cannon Live!” on March 28th.

Love is in the Air!

There is nothing better for Valentine’s day than an Italian vibe in the air. From the menu, and the wine, up to the atmosphere. The food is diverse and tasty (after all – it is Italian). The appetizers are very good, dominated by seafood and veggies (the mussels are perfect). Pasta can clearly compete with the best in Manhattan, with great offers like  Squid Ink Linguine, and the Gnocchi Pesto. The entrees include several superb dishes for every taste. The chicken “My Way” and “Parmigiana”, the Lamb Shank, several amazing veal dishes. There are several amazing plates of pasta for the vegetarians – Ricotta Ravioli, Spaghetti al Pomodoro, and Gnocchi Pesto. The salads are a great addition, too – Vago, Caprese, and Market Greens.

Lean Lamb Shank

No romantic dinner is complete without the dessert. Tiramisu, ricotta cheesecake, and lots and lots of chocolate.

But what can be the highlight of any romantic dinner? A bottle of great wine. The list is all Italian (which means supreme wines!). My personal picks are the Vin Santo, Grappa Di Barolo, Taylor Fladgate (30 year Tawny).

Fine Spanish Wine

Vago Restaurant hosts some weekly events at the bar, as well as 30% off a bottle of wine on Monday, Jazz and Late Night Happy hour on Wednesday, and 10% off of premium alcohol on Thursday.

The place is comfortable, with a romantic Italian vibe, that adds a touch of class to every romantic dinner. The interior is mostly white and gives away the notion of serenity. There are a lot of lovely paintings on the walls, that make your “transition” to Italy much easier. And there are some fine wines, too.

We believe that you need a mid-February trip to Italy. Trust me, we all do. And a good show on Broadway, too. The best way is through Vago and BroadwayPass.
