Best Broadway shows to watch this spring

Spring 2022 is a great time to book some cultural time on your schedule and see the newest plays on Broadway, as well as some of revivals and comebacks. Here’s the list of our ‘must-see’ selection.

Paradise Square

After being gone for two decades, Garth Drabinsky, the mega producer behind Ragtime, returns on Broadway with Paradise Square. The original musical is set amongst Black and Irish communities during the Civic War, taking place on the Lower East Side. The choreography by the amazing Bill T. Jones and the directions of Moises Kaufman is yet another reason not to miss this masterpiece.

The Little Prince

Based on the classic book by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, The Little Prince opens up a whimsical world to the audience through the character’s intergalactic travel and extraordinary adventures. The story, which has been Broadway-adjusted, features elaborate spectacle with aerial acrobatics, a lot of video effects immersing you into the setting and of course plenty of curious characters that the little prince meets along the way.

Mr Saturday Night

Billy Crystal- a titan in comedy and a national treasure, embodies the septuagenarian character Buddy Young Jr in a musical adaptation of the 1992 film. Featuring David Paymer and other great names including Randy Graff, Shoshana Bean and Chasten Harmon, the musical adapted by Crystal and his screenwriting partners is a must-see.

A Strange Loop

An honest and absolutely funny meta musical that won the 2020 Pulitzer Prize, A strange loop follows what story of a queer black guy, played by Michael R. Jackson. Directed by Stephen Brackett and choreographed by Raja Feather Kelly, the musical will have you laughing, sympathising and tapping your foot in the rhythm of the music.

The Music Man

A revival of Meredith Willson’s 1957 musical, The Music Man returns to Broadway starring the legendary Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster. The story follows a wily con man, who comes into small-town Iowa to stir some trouble, but meets his match at the library. Directed by Jerry Zaks and having the entire creative team of the Bette Midler ‘Hello, Dolly,’ this one would not disappoint.
