Harry Potter on Broadway

The wizarding world together with Harry, Hermione and Ron, is coming back, but this time on Broadway. The play “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” following J.K. Rowling book, is set up in a spectacular way on the Broadway scene, promising captivation, enchantment and excitement.

About the Play

Harry Potter’s favourite characters are set up at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The wizards once again are in a battle, fighting the evil forces and trying the keep the balance afloat. The spectacle has the whole theatre transformed with the venue allowing epic duels and extraordinary spells coming to live. As part of the audience, you’ll immerse into the magical world even before the play’s start through the sumptuous lobby, the curtains, the light fixtures and all the surrounding atmosphere.

The story follows Harry Potter, who’s now leading the Department of Magical Law Enforcement at the Ministry of Magic, and his younger son Albus Severus Potter, who is about to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

The show goes for 3 hours and 30 minutes, including 1 intermission.

When was the show first staged?

The previews of the play first started in 2016 at London Palace Theatre, opening up on Broadway in April 2018.


The Broadway production has won 6 Tony awards in 2018, including Best play. The play also has hit a record, selling the highest number of tickets for a play in a week. The first public sale of tickets saw 175,000 tickets sold in just under 8 hours.

The play is staged at Lyric Theatre in New York. It’s also running in London, Melbourne, San Francisco and Hamburg.
