Where is one of the best places where you can taste modern-day Japan? Maybe to grab some sushi, tempura, fish or tasty rice? Or maybe a drink after an evening at the theatres? Head down to Natsumi for all of those!

Natsumi is a great place for your dinner before or after a show on Broadway. It is very close nearby Gershwin, Ambassador Theater, Broadway Theater, August Wilson Theater, Neil Simon Theatre, and the Winter Garden. So if you’re out to see “Wicked”, “Chicago”, “West Side Story”, “Mean Girls”, “The Illusionists – Magic of the Holidays” or “Beetlejuice” – this is your place to stop. And it’s very close to the 50th Street Broadway Station and 50th Street Subway Station. It’s close to the bus stations on Broadway, 8th Avenue, and W 50th Street.

When you enter a Japanese restaurant your first (and obvious choice) is sushi! This dish is the standard-bearer of Japanese cuisine, and you can find it all over the globe. But in Natsumi is one of the finest! The assortment is rich with all kinds of sushi, sashimi, and rolls. The sushi entrees and special rolls provide some great mixes of ingredients, and flavors, like Natsumi sushi set or the Toro lounge. There are some tasty vegan/vegetarian options amid the rolls like Zen maki. If you have a hard time picking – try the maki combination. And definitely give Chef’s Creation a try!

The sushi is a must but Natsumi provides other excellent dishes, too. Soups, salads, cold and hot appetizers, kitchen entrees (like the classic teriyaki chicken or seafood tempura). The desserts are pretty good, too, and the tempura cheesecake has gained a lot of recognition around.

One of Natsumi’s many tasty dishes

There’s a nice lunch menu offering lunch boxes with tempura, dumplings, miso soup or salad, and an entrée. The Special lunches are not to be skipped, too.

As a place very close to so many theaters and with late working hours, Natsumi has a significant alcohol list. You can find all the standard stuff like wine, whiskey, tequila and so on, but you must try their Japanese drinks. And they are a lot! Several sorts of sake (including infused one for the ladies), Kirin Ichiban on draft, Kirin Light and Asahi (bottled), even Natsumi Sling for the more adventurous.

Some typical Japanese drinks

The place is large enough so you can get all your friends for a pre-show dinner or for drinks after. The design is contemporary and comfortable. It may become a bit crowdy due to its location and kitchen. Yet, the staff is kind of used to this so the handle it easily. Always polite, smiling and helpful if you have a hard time picking your dish.

Natsumi is a decorated place, receiving a Certificate of Excellence from TripAdvisor in 2016 and a Recommendation. It was also mentioned by the New York Eater, ZAGAT, Yelp, and ChopSticks NY.

So, wherever you go with BroadwayPass, be sure that you’re always close by Natsumi. Whether you go for a drink or a bite, that’s the place to visit.
